‘A New Lease of Life for Walkley Library’: An update on the Heritage Lottery Fund project

As many people will know, Walkley Carnegie Library was recently awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to support the preparation of a very substantial funding bid, for the renovation and conservation of the building. This will transform this iconic local landmark into a dual-purpose library and café-restaurant, in collaboration with True North Brew Company.

As part of this process, we are delighted to say that we have appointed Anita Hollinshead to co-ordinate the process of putting together this complex bid for well over a million pounds of HLF funding. The Round Two grant application will be submitted in March 2019.

Anita is based in Sheffield, has an MA in the Conservation of Historic Objects and has been working in the heritage sector for twenty-six years. This has included acting as Project Manager for ‘Moving Forward: developing a new audience for Barrow Hill Roundhouse’, where she coordinated the submission of the successful Round Two application to HLF for £1.3 million in 2015.

She has worked on a number of other HLF projects, at sites including Oakham Castle, Sacrewell Watermill, the International Bomber Command Centre and Mrs Smith’s Cottage in Lincolnshire. Her previous jobs have included Museum Development Officer for Derbyshire and Area Museums Officer for North Norfolk.
