Meet the author at Walkley Library: Anne Grange

Field Values book launch

Thursday 19 November, 7.00-8.30pm at Walkley Library. Free to attend. No need to book. Donations to the library are always welcome!

Local author and Walkley Library volunteer Anne Grange was inspired to write Field Values by the Sheffield street tree protests which happened just over ten years ago, and also a corporate job she had, working for a large engineering firm, where she dealt with claims and complaints. As someone who really cares about the environment and nature, Anne started to think about the compromises we sometimes make as we get older, putting our families and relationships ahead of the future of the planet. Field Values is the story of Stella, a former fire-brand activist who has become a wife, mother and customer services manager for the same company she once protested against. A chance encounter beneath the ancient branches of the lucky oak reveals that the local woods are under threat from her own employer, hurling Stella back into a world she thought she'd outgrown. If she joins the protest, she could lose her job, her home and maybe even her marriage. Is standing up for nature worth risking everything?
